With This Pee, I Thee Shed?

Hello peeps!
I'm supposed to be writing a paper for one of my classes but am finding it difficult to really get into it (what's new?). I know it has to be done, and I have a lesson plan that is next in line once the paper is complete - yet here I am futzing around on the computer doing anything but what I am supposed to be doing. Oh Lord, if you only knew just how typical that was of me. My friend (who happens to be a special ed teacher and is therefore quite familiar with the subject) confirmed my self-diagnoses for having Adult ADD. I swear, my ability to stay focused sometimes (as in a lot of the time) SUCKS.

Adding to my issues of not being able to stay focused is all this damn water I have been drinking. For those of you that regularly drink upward of 80 - 100 oz a day, how do you do it? I am CONSTANTLY up and down from my chair, back and forth to the bathroom because I have to pee. Like we're talking waterfalls of pee that I cannot believe my bladder can even hold....Please tell me this stops after a while. I mean, I am willing to pee my brains out if it means shedding some weight - but holy smokes is it inconvenient!

I'm sticking to my challenge goals, though - despite my raging desire to throw on a pair of Depends so that I can stay put in my chair for longer than a 30 minute stretch. I'm guzzling 64 oz of pure water - plus more liquids throughout the day - primarily in the form of coffee, but hey - that counts, right? I'm also tracking WW points, and getting in my 30 minutes of exercise. Yesterday it was the Shred and an additional walk, today it is the Shred and I promise, I will walk again a little later.

Speaking of the Shred, I'm still trudging through! Monday I did not do the DVD because my back was acting up (disc issues - so not fun) but I figured out that it was mainly the bicycle crunches that were causing me pain for whatever reason. Not to be deterred, I got back on the horse yesterday so for the past 2 workouts (Tues & today)  I just did a regular crunch combined with a reverse crunch during that last abs segment which seemed to alleviate the pain a bit (or at least not intensify it, anyway). What is encouraging to me is the difference I notice in myself (endurance-wise) now that I have completed Day 12 versus my struggles in the beginning. Even the jumping jacks are getting easier. And I NEVER thought I'd say that.

Technically this is supposed to be the last day for Level 1, but I am not sure I am ready to move on (mentally or physically) - however, I am willing to try if others who are doing the challenge are also sticking to the proposed schedule. Give me a shout and let me know how you are doing!! I am willing to suffer along and call Jillian even more harsh names in Level 2 if you are!

That's about it...just a wee little update (no pun intended). I'm sending good vibes out to everyone else to kick some butt and stick with your goals. I also want to thank everyone for their comments and support. You guys make this weight loss thing (*almost*) enjoyable - LOL.

  1. I am the girl who always has to go pee on a road trip...all my life. But I have found that if I drink my 8 bottles of water daily on the diet it works for me. If I don't I lag. At least the last poundage lost it had been like that. I would watch the scale daily and saw this difference and vow to always hold a bottle (oh gotta trade the coffee cup for it right now)lol

  3. Oh my gosh. At work, I swear I walked 5km a day just going to and from the bathroom. Now that I'm a home, it's not as bad.

Yep, it's normal and it doesn't really go away. ;)

  5. I just joined a weight loss group and last weeks challenge was to drink half my weight in ounces. I had to drink 79 ounces. It seemed like I was in the bathroom more than not. Yesterday was weigh-in and I lost 1.5 pounds. Needless to say I'm continuing drinking the water this week even though it's not a challenge. I've gone through a lot more TP this week too with all those bathroom trips. But I figure it's activity since my bathroom is upstairs.

  6. We can all pee together! I try and get all my water in before mid afternoon, then I'm not up all night. Congrats on the exercise

  7. No you won't stop peeing all the time LOL I drink 120-150 oz of water a day and pee roughly every 30 minutes at times. It sucks but it's so worth it and my body appreciates all the water.

  8. Still getting used to the increased water myself this week. I get annoyed at needing to go at the most impossible of times, but that's the price we pay I suppose. Looks like you are really doing well with your efforts, keep up the great work and you will see results soon.

  10. I am encouraged to see, that there are others also working hard on getting some pounds off the hips. Every time you go to the toilet, just get reminded that your body likes the liquid. It's like you wash your dishes and you need water, to get everything clean. So, hopefully our body gets rid of all that fat with lots of liquid. :-) This is great, that we are both part of the same challenge!

  11. I need to drink more water! It's such a challenge for me, but when I do manage to get all my water in I spend alot of time in the bathroom, too!

  12. Oh boy do I know about the pee-fest! No way around it, I don't think. I try to get my water in as early as I can to stem the flow during sleeping hours...
It sounds like you're doing great!
My procrastination skills started in college so I really relate to your paper writing computer time! My whole post yesterday was actually a giant exercise in "not paying bills"
    take care!!

  13. First, insert the I'm not a doctor, nutritionist, or expert of any kind disclaimer here. Now, know that I am with you - most of my exercise, if it isn't at the gym, is the back & forth from desk to toilet! I actually just got some lab results back saying I'm over-hydrated. The program I'm doing had me drinking half my weight in ounces each day, and I haven't adjusted for the fact that I've lost 36 pounds. Whoops.

Caffeine is a diuretic, so if you are not drinking decaf (or even if you are), you might try cutting back to see if that helps with the frequency.

It will even out eventually. Good work - glad to find your blog.

  14. I was going to suggest cutting back on caffeine too, it may help.

  15. I know what you mean about drinking all the water. Years ago when I was a weight watcher, our leader used to call it "the weight watcher trot." I have found that anything with caffeine makes it worse, and I usually stop at 8-9 8 oz. glasses a day. My potassium depletes rather easily, and I end up with leg cramps and some other symptoms if I drink too much.

  16. Weight Watchers has been successful for so many. With this point thing, I just don't understand it when people are blogging about it. As long as they are in their allowed points, I figure. I see lots of tasty looking food, too!

I have a story about two women who looked like models tell me they had been as big as me (when I was young and big at no more than 210) and thanked it all to Weight Watchers.

  17. Daily time devoted to peeing does get better after a while. I used to do 100 oz a day but after 6 years I am down to 72 oz and it has been great. Sometimes I go a whole 5 hours without a peep from my bladder.

I identify with you about the adult ADD (also self diagnosed - who knew we were so smart that we could play MD to ourselves w/o the degree). Some days my focus can be distracted by anything and everything.

Here is hoping your bladder finds a healthy balance.
